Let's Learn Korean - Permission Particle 어/아도 되다 -

This particle means "it's okay even...". 아도 is used for root word which ends by 아 and 오, while 어도 is for another vowels and consonants. Some adjectives can replace this particle, such as 괜찮다 and 좋다, but they become 도 괜찮아 and 도 좋다.

Example:  -  이제 자 돼요?         =  Can I sleep now? (Is it okay even if I sleep now?)
                  -  이제 차를 타 돼요  =  You can get in to the car now (It's okay for you to get in to the car now)
                  -  먼저 가괜찮아요   =  May I go first? (Is it okay if go first?)
                  -  넌 아니라도 좋아요   =  It's okay even it's not you

To make negative statement, you just need to add negative particles in front of this particle. And the meaning of the particle changes into "You don't have to...".

Example:  -  너무 비싸면 그 목거리를 안 사도 돼요  =  If the price is too expensive, you don't have to buy that necklace
                  -  싫으면 요리를 먹지 않아도 괜찮아요    =  If you don't like the dish, you don't have to eat that
                  -  정말 바쁘면 가지 못해도 좋아요             =  If you're really busy, it's okay for you not to go (If you're really busy, you don't have to go)

Preseeeennnttt!!! :D
